Cruise Day 2

Its been interesting watching the boats go by. Most are coal boats, others are fairies and other cruise ships. I've seen some very fast Russian made hydrofoil boats and a few boats carrying coal with oxen riding on top of the coal.

. . . . .

I just got back from our trip to the city of Shibaozhai. This is one of the places that will be put under water when the new dam is finished. I bought a couple of flutes there. The people who sell things in this city, and other small tourist cities in China are extremely aggressive. In this town, whenever I walked by them they would all shout "hello" to me in demanding voices while holding up goods. When I so much as looked at anything I would get mobbed by the 'hello' people, all holding up similar items.

The views were spectacular from the top of the pegota. We climbed up nine flights of stairs to get there in hot, humid weather. I kept my hair down for bug protection on my neck. As with many of the towns that will be flooded, the government is building now housing higher up for these people. It is interesting to see the old buildings, many of which are 100's of years old in contrast to the new boxy apartments in the background.
