I felt sorry for most of the Lamas (monks) as they milled about their sacred temple with tourists trying to pose with them for pictures and gawking at their lives. However, this particular lama was very friendly and even beaconed us to come join him and posed for pictures.

These pictures were taken from inside the temple without a flash or a very steady hand.

I was surprised at how modern Lhasa is. It was interesting to contrast the old temple with the modern landscape below
