Feeling Better :) (but a little less well by the end of this post ;)

Yay! :) Not sure I'm 100% yet, but close, and hopefully good enough that I'll be confident I'm well by tomorrow and able to visit the baby. The fever was hovering around 100 during the morning, and interestingly, my temperature is now running low for the second half of the day: I just took it and it came up 96.1.

Hmm... in the process of writing this journal I just looked up "low body temperature" and saw that it can indeed be a sign of infection :/ I normally run on the low side (High 97s/Low 98s), so 96.1 is not as low for me as it sounds, but perhaps I should be taking it more seriously. In the least, I guess I won't go visit the baby until it comes back up :(

One last note, to all you sickies out there that I've been reading about who may not have already heard about it, Zicam Cold Remedy has been...

Okay, I was just looking up a link for that to recommend it and came up with this article. Wow, the internet is a major bearer of bad news tonight, especially given that my nose has been feeling a bit funny since I've been using the stuff this time in a non-snuffly sort of way... I can definitely still smell strong smells, I can't smell as well as a usually do but I think that's probably because I just used some of the stuff and my nose is still coated. At least I found the article in time to stop my recommending it to you all!

Interesting, I noted that article was referencing a 2003 court date and seemed to only be showing the current date in the corner as opposed to the article date... the FAQ of the Zicam site currently claims:
Q. Does Zicam Cold Remedy cause side effects?
A. Zicam Cold Remedy is safe and does not cause the side effects often experienced when taking cold relief products, such as drowsiness or grogginess. Zicam Cold Remedy is not habit-forming.

It also claims:
Q. How fast does Zicam Cold Remedy shorten the duration of the common cold?
A. A clinical study has shown that Zicam Nasal Cold Remedy gets rid of the cold three times faster, reducing the duration by an average of 75% when taken at the onset of symptoms.

That latter part was why I was recommending it: I have been getting over colds faster since using it, although I hadn't realized that their claim was that significant, wow!

I was unable to find from a quick search evidence of how many people ended up with damage to their sense of smell, if Zicam has made changes to their product to make it safer since 2003, or anything else of that matter. Oh wait, this article. Damn.

Alright... I think I'm going to go back to bed now before this post degenerates anymore ;)
