My neck pain that started a few days ago is mostly gone at this point. Going to the doctor and getting a cervical collar early on seemed like it helped a lot. In fact, even though I followed doctor's orders of wearing it whenever not sleeping, the range of motion it prevented was still the last to recover... except for the part I keep reinjuring in my sleep ;)
When sleeping I'm supposed to keep a towel rolled under my neck, and I've found that the only way I can keep my right shoulder from hurting is to stay on my back. But I like to sleep on my side, so whenever I'm feeling a bit better I find myself waking up on my side with a shock of pain an a vague recollection of some nonsense reason of how I ended up in the position ;)
The side injury, while annoying, isn't a big deal because it
generally only bothers me when trying to get into and out of bed or
when I am trying to sleep on my side, but it would still be nice if I
could convince that short sighted rationalizing part of my
subconscious that I'd get in more sleeping on my side sooner if it
would give the shoulder time to heal! ;)
