Tovar's been on the outside for just over three weeks now, and I had my first afternoon off today, Patri took over the afternoon hospital shift for me :) He'd called my piano students for me while I was in labor to cancel my lessons and then after to let them know that it would be a while before I came back, but I called them all myself for the first time today.
The moms informed me that several of the kids have been practicing incessantly for the past three weeks with plans of perfecting their songs to play for me when I come back. The moms assured me that the kids knew I wouldn't be back for much longer, and I'm sure that they will get tired of it long before I'm ready to teach again, but still, very sweet that they're doing that ;)
I told the parents that I'd thought I'd probably be up for teaching students that come to my house in somewhere around four months, and it sounds like the ones I've spoken with want to wait for me. (the doctors told me that the baby will probably be going home around his due date, which is Jan 7th, although from what Patri's been reading it sounds like he could possibly be home in as soon as a little over a month from now)
One mom offered to bring me dinner every day :) I told her maybe
once the baby's home from the hospital: I'm not sure that I'd be
comfortable accepting her offer, but I might be desperate enough that
it won't matter ;) The same mom also told me that she'd also be
thrilled to hold the baby during her children's lessons, and that
she'd also be happy to come early or stay later to watch the baby for
me and give me a little break.
