much better

My jazz piano class was great. The prof strikes me as both a competent teacher and excellent pianist. Most people in the class had taken at least a year and a half of private classical lessons, and there were three of us that had taken classical music lessons for over ten years. This is the only college class that the prof teaches (he's been teaching it for about ten years) and he plays professionally. About a third of the class were repeating it: you can take it up to three times for credit, and he tries to change it up each quarter. A few were so enthusiastic that they were taking it for that third time.

I did indeed decide to drop the psych class. I've tried at least a half dozen different schools for various pursuits, and at this point I think I've gotten pretty good at picking out the classes which just suck to the core from those that have a reasonable chance at getting better. I still have other options if I want to get into the music association. I can take two courses next quarter for example. I'd intended on taking two quarters in the spring anyway to give myself some extra cushion, but I think I can scrape in without that second spring section being cushion.
